Yay! Victoria's Secret called about a management position closer to me than the one at the mall out in bfe. I'm calling back later to set up the interview. And, more exciting: I got a call back from one of the Americorps programs I applied for! Interview there next Wednesday morning!
I'm going to have to go buy a suit. I don't have any interview clothes at all.
Last night we hacked outside for a while before we went downtown to play quizzo. I'm getting better, tennis shoes help a lot. Quizzo wasn't until 7:30 and we got to the area really early, so anna and (julie? wow, I'm bad with names!) and I stopped and got sushi at a cute place down the block from the bar. I forgot to write down its name, so I have no idea if I'd ever be able to find it again, but it was good sushi and not terribly overpriced.
This is the "bar" part of the "sushi bar."
We think the dancing pieces of orange stuff are supposed to be sushi, because another poster had an orange thing in a top hat and there was a caption about salmon sushi. I've never seen sushi that looks like that (well, obviously. most sushi doesn't come in clothing or with facial features), but I thought the characters were pretty endearing anyway.
This flower was in the window, I thought it was cheerful. It serves no greater purpose in the post, though. There's no charming story about the daisy. Sorry. You just have to appreciate it for the random picture that it is.
After my Philly Roll (cream cheese and smoked salmon! yum!) we joined JB and Kate at the Locust Bar (my memory is fuzzy on that...could have been called almost anything but I feel like we were at least near a street called Locust). I was going to explain that the format for quizzo is kindof like the worksheet section at dorman's competitions in high school...but then I realized that I don't have any of the a-team reading this. So, basically, the guy in charge reads one question at a time and teams try to come up with the answer and write it down on a sheet of paper. Points when you get it right, bonus points possible for the eleventh question per round. three rounds. It was pretty fun, the guy asked some really random stuff though. (Like, what's the capital of the US Virgin Islands? Who would know that?!) For those of you reading this who happened to know my friends in high school, JB is a combination of parts of david and sean mentally; ergo, he's the useful one to have on the team. For Kristina, it's kindof like playing Trivial Pursuit with Scott. essentially, the rest of us were there for laughs. we didn't win, but we didn't do too badly. and I think we had more fun than anybody else there; we laughed a lot more. Which is the important part.
back to my book now. currently reading: neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Up next: Endgame by Beckett.
