Church and State Symposium

I made it to Florida, and went to the conference at UCF yesterday. I'm glad I went, but I didn't hear a lot of new material. Jason reminded me that if they had presented stuff that would be new material for me, then almost everyone else would be lost because they hadn't spent a lot of time studying this. He had a point. Only real criticism of the event: too many middle schoolers. Even I wouldn't have gotten anything out of the fairly dry presentations yesterday had I been there as a seventh grader. They just took up space and made noise. I can be ok with the high school seniors from AP government classes, but middle schoolers?!

Last night Nadine Strossen (national president of the ACLU) and Ralph Reed (former director of the Christian Coalition and current candidate for Lt. Gov. of Georgia) spoke. They were way more civil than I expected; I had hoped for an actual fight. It was really fun to listen, Strossen totally said what I was thinking in my head (or under my breath) half a dozen times. She made me want to be a card carrying member of the ACLU. Kristina, don't let Scott read that or he won't let you talk to me anymore.

I've watched a lot of football since I got to Florida, and listened to a lot of country music on the radio. That's the beauty of Florida. I have also tried on cowboy hats and ridden in a truck. I'm not sure that that's part of the beauty of Florida, but I think it might just come with the territory.

More to come when more has happened.

Riding in Trucks and trying on upscale cowboy hats can't be all bad...admit it, you enjoyed it. :)
