New York Part Two

I went back to New York last Friday. I had had such a good time that I just couldn't stay away! I stayed almost a week this time; I got home last night during the middle of The OC. We didn't do a lot of super-exciting things, but I still had a lot of fun spending time with friends. Here's the short version of the trip:

Friday- Took the Chinatown bus with Anna, very easy and cheap! We were dropped off in Chinatown, NYC and had to wander quite a while before we found a subway station. It worked out, though, and I made it to Brooklyn. We had dinner at a vegan fast food place, and then stopped by a cute little store called LoveShine, where I bought a finger puppet for Anna. They had all kinds of animals, like llamas and octopi:


Saturday- We went grocery shopping. This was an almost all day affair. We walked a long way to the Key Food store, and then went to the Farmer's Market. The market was awesome! I got a yummy green pepper that I ate while we shopped (people kept looking at me strangely, I'm not sure why), and we found some really good grapes. Steffany and Eric got a lot of stuff, I'm jealous that they live so close to such a neat grocery store alternative.


Saturday night we went out with some of Eric's philosophy friends. The second bar we went to had a mural on the wall of a painting that I saw in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC a few weeks ago:

Sunday- Slept in and then stayed around the house. Steff played Zelda. :)
Monday- Everyone went to work except me! I stayed at the apartment and slept a little and read a lot. We watched a little football in Jess's apartment downstairs that night. Ryall brought me flowers:


Tuesday- Ryall had the day off from work, so we wandered around New York. I found a little bookstore where I got Annie Dillard's An American Childhood for three dollars. It was fashion week in NYC, so we also saw a tent with skinny pretty people and paparazzi:


After the bookstore we went to see The Brothers Grimm. It was really terrible, but it was still nice to go to the movies. I hadn't been to a movie in a long time. We walked through Times Square on the way back:


That night we watched the Gilmore premiere in Jess's apartment (she's the only one with cable). I'm happy that the Luke/Lorelei thing worked out, but Rory is messed up!
Wednesday- I did nothing. I think there might have been cookies involved.
Thursday- I got up and packed and tried to come home. All was going swimmingly until my greyhound bus was stopped on the New Jersey turnpike. There was a huge (18 wheeler + 12 cars) accident and we were parked on the turnpike for almost four hours. And then once we were moving it was stop and go for a long time. It's normally a two hour drive. I left New York just before 2. I got to Philadelphia just before 8. :(
