I don't react well to insects. Particularly roaches. Even more particularly, giant flying roaches.
Wednesday night I was in my bedroom reading until about 1:30 am, when I suddenly looked over and realized there was a GIANT FLYING ROACH approximately 18 inches from me. Once my heart started beating again, I ran to the living room to hide.
The problem with this plan, you may ask? Simple, really. My driver's license, money, and phone were all still in the room with the GFR. My keys were on the dining room table within easy reach but I couldn't use them! Nor could I call anyone for help! Nor did I have any Raid!!!
I waited a while to see if the GFR would die of natural causes. Since I wouldn't get close enough to drop anything on it, I couldn't hasten its demise. It was still alive- it was actually pacing in front of my bedroom door like it was trying to keep me out!- when I decided I couldn't stay in the house. Because it might get me.
I also couldn't drive anywhere, because my license was being held hostage by the GFR.
So, my friends, I did the only rational thing (at 2:00 in the morning).
I slept in my car.
It is now Sunday, and I still have a crick in my neck.
[Thursday, of course, I stopped at Publix and bought roach traps and three kinds of Raid to place at strategic points around the apartment.]
