Name a favorite literary couple and tell me why they are a favorite. If you cannot choose just one, that is ok too. Name as many as you like - sometimes narrowing down a list can be extremely difficult and painful. Or maybe that's just me. [Stolen from Ashley]
Here is my list:
1. Scarlett and Rhett [Gone with the Wind]. I know, I know. But I freaking love Scarlett (the BOOK version of her, not the movie), and I think Rhett is perfect.
2. Anne and Gilbert [Anne of Green Gables, et. al.]. I still have a crush on Gilbert. No lie.
3. Lyra and Will [His Dark Materials]. I realize they're like...13. But those books move me like no others.
4. Michael Hosea and Angel [Redeeming Love] This is a retelling of Hosea in the Bible. Love.
5. John and Abigail Adams. No, they aren't FICTIONAL, but they're totally literary. Have you read their letters? Awesome.

3 pink picket thought(s):
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy - hands down. They sparked the romantic comedy movement. I so love her spunk and Darcy is the only one who can keep up! I think it's the only Austen book I ever finished.
And, their younger generation counterparts, Ron and Hermoine. Yes, I realize that makes me a total nerd.
1. I second John and Abigail Adams. Those letters they wrote to each other! *sigh*
2. Daisy and Gatsby. Unrequited love. Determination. Angst. So good! Makes me want to re-read it right now.
3. Aerin and Tor. Destined to love each other. He respected her in a culture that gave little respect to women as warriors and loved her when she was clumsy, sick, and an ugly duckling. And who can forget the battle at the end of the book? They were perfect compliments to each other.
I want to read the Adams letters!! Any recommendations?
I couldn't put Redeeming Love down - it's definitely one of my favorite books I think, but I don't know that I would classify them as one of my favorite couples. Thanks for reminding me - I've been wanting to pass that book on to my lit professor, who says there's no good Christian fiction (and he's mostly right!!)
